District Announcements
Bomb Threat
Due to a Bomb Threat made at Knightstown Intermediate School, all KIS students have been evacuated to Knightstown High School.  This will allow the Knightstown Police in cooperation with the Henry County Sherriff's Department to conduct a thorough search of the building.  Once the school has been declared safe, students will return to Knightstown Intermediate School.

As is always the case, student safety is our number one priority.  We will send out any additional information through our emergency notification system as it becomes available

KHS would like to wish Evan Adams and Jake Riggs GOOD LUCK!!! at the Advanced Small Engines State Competition this Saturday, April 26th.
Spring Musical
We hope you will join us for the Knightstown High School Musical; Beauty and the Beast by Disney!
 
Performances will be Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at the KHS Auditorium starting at 7 PM
 
Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door.  If you would like to purchase advanced tickets you can contact Tracie Smith or Alexa Myers.  Tickets are also available at the High School in the main office.
 
We hope you come to watch one of our performances.  The students have been working very hard and would appreciate your support!!

Senior Girls Brunch
 The annual Psi Iota Xi and Tri Kappa Senior Girls Brunch, this includes Mothers and Daughters, will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at noon in the KHS Cafeteria.  Please RSVP in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, April 23rd.

Attention:   Parents/Guardians of Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation Students
 
  
New Immunization Requirements are now expected of your student before the first day of school. School will begin Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Please check and make sure your student is up to date with all of their immunizations before the first day of school in order to avoid exclusion. Contact your health care provider for your child’s immunization information or access it through your computer via MY VAX INDIANA at https://gateway.isdh.in.gov/MyVaxIndiana/Default2.aspx.
 
Please note the new requirement of 2 Varicella vaccines for all students. 
 
Also, 11th and 12th grade students are now required to have 2 MCV4 vaccinations. 
 
All entering 6th grade students are also due for routine vaccinations.
 
Thank you for your cooperation and we are looking forward to a healthy 2014-2015 School Year.
 
Please note that all immunizations are expected to be completed before the first day of school, August 5, 2014. You are welcome to bring your updated immunization record to registration.

Hep B The minimum age for the 3rd dose of Hepatitis B is 24 weeks of age.
 
DTaP Four doses of DTaP/DTP/DT are acceptable if 4th dose was administered on or after child’s 4thbirthday.
 
Polio Three doses of Polio are acceptable for all grade levels if the third dose was given on or after the 4th birthday and at least 6 months after the previous dose with only one type of vaccine used (all OPV or all IPV).
 
For students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade the final dose must be administered on or afterthe 4th birthday, and be administered at least 6 months after the previous dose.
 
Live Vaccines (MMR, Varicella & LAIV) Live vaccines that are not administered on the same day must be administered a minimum of 28 days apart. The second dose should be repeated if the doses are separated by less than 28 days.
 
Varicella Physician documentation of disease history, including month and year, is proof of immunity for children entering preschool through 6th grade. Parental report of disease history is acceptable for grades 7-12.
 
Tdap There is no minimum interval from the last Td dose.
 
MCV4 Individuals who receive dose 1 on or after their 16th birthday only need 1 dose of MCV4.
For children who have delayed immunizations, please refer to the 2014 CDC “Catch-up Immunization Schedule” to determine adequately immunizing doses. All minimum intervals and ages for each vaccination as specified per 2014 CDC guidelines must be met for a dose to be valid. A copy of these guidelines can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/

Attention all parents and students. As of 3:00 p.m. today, Friday February 28th, there are fewer than 20 2013-2014 yearbooks available to order. We have a limited supply and once the last yearbook has been claimed no further orders will be accepted.
